Mom's spaghetti was my favorite dinner growing up. When I went to college I ate plenty of spaghetti, but always from the jar, never homemade. After a while spaghetti dropped off my list of favorite dinners. When I got married I decided to make Mom's sauce and remembered why I loved spaghetti so much. Nothing beats it. I usually double the recipe and freeze the extra. This way it make three meals for our family. -Amy
Mom's Spaghetti Meat Sauce
1/2 pound ground beef
1/2 pound ground beef
3 small cans tomato sauce
1 6 oz. can tomato paste
1 tablespoon minced dry onion
1 tablespoon sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon basil
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
Brown meat. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for one hour, stirring occasionally. Ladle over hot, thin spaghetti.
I got a similar recipe from Dad's mom when I got married and I modified it with the seasonings.
